Most bloggers would say that Wordpress is very easy to use. This may be true for experienced users, but for beginners this may be somewhat intimidating. I wanted to create this article to explain how you can add a new post in Wordpress using simple steps. If you are using a blog or are considering using one, I would highly recommend it be a self hosted Wordpress blog and that you learn how to use it correctly.
Step 1 - Identify Your Target Market. Make certain that you know exactly who you want to read your blog posts. Blogging can only make you money if you focus on a specific target market.
Step 2 - Have These Plug-ins Installed. Here is a list of recommended plug-ins to help you rank better in search engines: Google XML Sitemaps, All-In-One SEO Pack, Optimal Title, Another Wordpress Meta Plug-in, TweetMeMe, Simple Tags and Onlywire.
Step 3 - Set The Permalink For The Post Name. Go to the 'permalinks' section under settings on the left side of your Wordpress dashboard. Click 'custom structure' and enter this code: /%postname%
Step 4 - Create Your Title. Place the keyword phrase you are trying to rank for in the beginning of your title and in the permalink section below the title. This helps with search engine optimization.
Step 5 - Write Your Post. You can write about whatever you want. Be sure to include anything relevant to your post including images, videos and links. Always think of your target market and what they will get out of reading your post.
Step 6 - Complete The Simple Tags Section. This section will be in the upper righthand corner of your post form. Add your keywords to this section.
Step 7 - Complete The All-In-One SEO Pack Section. This section is located at the bottom of the post form. Include the title, blog post description and keywords.
Step 8 - Fill In The Meta Plug-in Section. - This can be found towards of the bottom of your post form. Be sure to include the post description and the keywords.
Step 9 - Proofread And Spell Check. Ensure that your blog post is spell checked and look for any grammatical errors. Check link functionality and proofread the entire post until you are satisfied it is ready to be published.
Step 10 - Publish Post. - The publish button will be to the right of your post form. Click the button when you are cretain it is ready. If you need to change the blog post or edit anything just click update post.
Step 11 - Promote Your New Post Using Onlwire. This plug-in will submit your new post to 33 social bookmarking websites. This helps to increase your blog post's relevance in the search engines. Onlywire is a paid tool, but is free when used with a Wordpress blog.
